Analytics Overview
The Analytics section in CourseLayer provides insights into your platform's performance across four key areas:
- Sales & Revenue – Tracks overall revenue and order data from Stripe.
- Product Sales – Provides a breakdown of sales by course and subscriptions.
- Engagement – Displays course-level engagement metrics, including starts, completions, and watch time.
- Instructor Performance – Shows sales attributed to each instructor.
Accessing Analytics
The Analytics section is available in the main navigation and offers a high-level view of key performance indicators.
You can filter reports by date and compare performance across different periods.
Sales & Revenue
This report provides a global view of revenue generated through Stripe.
Key Metrics:
- Orders – The total number of purchases.
- Gross Sales – The total value of transactions before deductions.
- Discounts – The value of discounts applied to orders.
- Net Sales – Revenue after discounts and refunds.
- Total Sales – Final revenue after tax calculations.
💡 Note: All revenue data is pulled directly from Stripe. There are no manual sales or external integrations at this time.
Product Sales
The Product Sales report provides insights into how individual courses and subscriptions are performing.
Each row represents a product and includes:
- Orders – The number of times the product was purchased.
- Gross Sales – Total revenue before deductions.
- Discounts & Refunds – Any reductions applied.
- Net Sales & Taxes – Final revenue figures after adjustments.
💡 Note: This report currently tracks courses and subscriptions.
Bundles and add-ons are planned for future updates.
Engagement
The Engagement report provides insights into learner activity at the course level.
Key Metrics:
- Enrollments – The total number of students enrolled.
- Starts & Start Rate – How many learners have started the course and their percentage of total enrollments.
- Completions & Completion Rate – The number of students who finished the course and their percentage of total starts.
- Average Time Watched – The average duration students engage with the course.

Instructor Performance
The Instructor Performance report tracks sales attributed to individual instructors.
Key Metrics:
- Products Sold – The number of courses linked to the instructor that have been purchased.
- Gross Sales & Net Sales – Revenue associated with their products.
- Total Sales – Final revenue figures.
💡 Note: This report is currently sales-focused.
